Experimenting VOL. Alchemy with Food

So today i thought i tried something where no REAL man has gone before.. the kitchen. I thought i would try to cook my own lunch today and overall i say it was a success. It could have been a bit better but the food was edible so i define that as a success. It started off yesterday really when i wanted to make myself something new but had no idea what. So i woke up today and checked the fridge for the supplies. We really don't have anything but did have material for a sandwich. I know, i know. "Making a sandwich isn't really cooking." That is why i decided to grill it. Yes a grilled sandwich. Now going through your mind right now are two things: one of those fancy sandwiches you see on the food network channel or a grilled cheese sandwich. Well, those are both wrong! I decided to make a grilled ham AND cheese sandwich. Now mind you, i had no idea how to go about this so i went to a trusty source for help; youtube. Haha. Youtube nowadays has become sort of like a search engine to me. Well when it comes to learning anyways. So i went on youtube to discover how people made their grilled ham & cheese sandwiches. First i looked for butter for the break, to make sure it doesn't burn i presume. Going through my fridge i noticed a tub of country crock. Upon inspection, i notice that the expiration date was in 2008!!!! Who in the world keeps expired butter for SOO long?! Regardless, i was desperate... So i smelt it and took a little sample taste. It seemed fine to me. Disgusting i know. After i buttered one side of both slices of bread, i put one piece of bread butter side down in a frying pan with butter already melted inside it. Then i took 2 slices of kraft singles cheese and applied it directly to the slice in the pan. Next comes the ham. I had no idea how much ham i should put on it but i probably put about 8 slices of ham on there HAHAHA. Topped off with another 2 slices of cheese and the final slice of bread. When i was finished constructing it i figured it was time to flip the whole sandwich. As i flipped the sandwich over, the first slice of bread was mostly burnt. I was kind of upset because i wanted this to be perfect. Oh well, you live and you learn. Which is why i only left the second slice on for way less time. I put it on a dish and cut in half because i was feeling fancy. Normally i would just eat it as one piece. The second slice of bread looked perfect! i decided to leave that side up so that i would forget the burnt slice when i was eating. Man was it delicious though! Truly exquisite i must say. This is only just opening new ideas for grilled sandwiches in the future!

This isn't my photo but you get the idea.

  9. Next time use a thicker bread, maybe even a darker wheat bread, and add some bacon, bacon is MAN FOOD.
